Crochet finger puppets

Finger puppets are easy and fun to make. You only need to know how to single crochet, increase and decrease. With a little bit of imagination, you can make them look like famous characters from your favorite films or TV series or make them in the image of your friends or relatives. I used these cotton tapestry threads, but I guess thin wool would also work fine.

This is the basic pattern for all characters.

Magic ring and make 4 single crochet (sc).
Round 1: 2 sc in any sc from previous round. Total: 8 stitches.
Round 2: sc in first stitch, 2sc in next. Repeat till the end: 12 stitches.
Round 3: sc in first, sc in second, 2sc in third stitch. Repeat till the end: 16 stitches.
Round 4: sc in every stitch.
Round 5: same as round 4.
Round 6: same as round 3 but decreasing instead of increasing. That’s to say: sc, sc, and then 2 single crochet together (2tog). Repeat.
Round 7: sc, 2 tog. Repeat.
I ended my heads here, but if you want them completely round, you can keep on decreasing.

Rounds 1 and 2: same as head.
Round 3: sc in every stitch.
Keep on single crocheting until the body has the length you want. Change colors to differentiate the shirt from the trousers if you want.
(NOTE: this works for my fingers, but if the puppets are meant for someone with bigger fingers, you may want to make them bigger…).

Magic ring and make 3 stitches.
Round 1: 2sc in each stitch.
Round 2: sc in each stitch.

And here some extra pictures just for fun! 🙂
